Anna

As an actor and writer, I believe in creating diverse, intense, and raw characters that are for women, speaking through our voices and experiences, in hopes of resonating with the female spirit.
— Anna Primiani

Anna is an award-winning actress in the TV and film space who meets any challenge head-on. Her innovative spirit has allowed her to extend her creative vision beyond the camera, dabbling in both screenwriting and producing. Beyond her notable career milestones, she also wears a variety of hats in her personal life. One of her greatest strengths has been her ability to transcend this multi-faceted image of womanhood onto the screen, carving three-dimensional female characters into her work. In doing so, she is able to capture valuable narratives and bring them to life. This is Anna’s story.

K: Please introduce yourself!

A:  Hello! My name is Anna Primiani. I am an actress, writer, and emerging filmmaker.

K: Describe or define yourself in your own words.

A: I am passionate and hardworking in everything I do. My friends often tell me I am altruistic and compassionate in all things and with people. I can be a fiery Italian and a mama bear at times for sure lol. I strive to be a lifelong learner, and continue to evolve and grow always.

In my work as an actress, I love to breathe life into a character’s words and make them my own. I am also an educator and I have always loved writing in various forms. Now as I immerse myself more in screenwriting, I find I challenge myself as I draw on my own experiences and I am learning to combine my two passions to create original scripts and films.

K: What is your favourite thing about yourself?

A: The acting world can be arduous as I navigate both the successes and failures. However, one favourite thing about myself is my resilience and unrelenting hard work to persevere. We all have hardships in life, I certainly have, life can be challenging at times, but we are not defined by those moments. Rather I believe it is what we learn from the hardest times in our lives, our mistakes, our struggles and how we can choose to pick ourselves up and keep going. This guides me in my life and it is something I continue to teach my children.

K: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that’s defined you or made you stronger?

A: I have had many experiences, some amazing and some not as pleasant, like bullying, discrimination, and loss. I find that every challenge and hard time I have had to endure, has taught me to find strength to deal with the next difficult situation. It's constant learning. Through adversity, I find a sense of calm and understanding and this helps me continue to grow into a stronger person.

K: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?

A: Haha! I wish I could tell my younger self to be more confident, to believe in myself and to quiet the noise around me. I wish I had surrounded myself sooner with people who are open and honest, and who want to see me succeed and thrive as an artist rather than bring me down. Also, don’t sweat the small stuff kid!

K: What does being a woman mean to you?

A: I feel like as a woman, I have many roles in my life. I am a mom, wife, sister, friend, confidant, daughter, and creative artist. I love that. I love being a woman, I feel women are strong and adaptable; we are warriors, but we can also be soft and vulnerable too. For me, I feel encompassing all these remarkable qualities is being a woman. Also, as an actor and writer, I believe in creating diverse, intense, and raw characters that are for women, speaking through our voices and experiences, in hopes of resonating with the female spirit.

K: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say if they were here now?

A: I am fortunate that I have many extraordinary women in my life with family and friends who are family.  I choose to surround myself with amazing, strong women and we teach, support, and elevate one another. I would say however, my sister, Giulia, inspires me. She is beautiful, patient, loving, generous, a hardworking mom, wife, and educator. She is considerate, fierce, intelligent and above all one of the most giving and kind people I know. We can challenge each other, we laugh, and cry together, we are always there for each other in both good and hard times. She believes in me, always. I don’t think she realizes how remarkable of a human being she is. If she were here now, I would tell her how lucky I am that she is my friend, my ride or die, my supporter, how proud I am of her and all her accomplishments and most of all, that I am so grateful that we are forever sisters.
